Homework
October 5-9
1. Reading Expectations: (READ EVERY NIGHT!)
* How Long Should I Read?
On Level: 10 - 20 minutes each night
Advanced and Accelerated: 20 - 30 minutes each night
*What Should I be Reading - Fiction or Non-Fiction?
Pick a Just Right Book that is fiction.
THINK about the Main Character as you read ... what is their Character Trait? What are their Motivations?
Can you find evidence to prove their Character Trait from how they look, how they act, and what they say or think?
*What do I do after I Read?
We are constantly jotting while reading in class. Go back and re-read a chapter and practice jotting. Remember to jot about Story Elements (Characters, Plot, Conflict, Theme, Setting) and different theories that you come up with. Jotting while you read or after you read can really help you fully comprehend a text and find deeper meaning!
2.. Catch Up On iReady Reading Lessons (3 lessons completed each week)
3. Study for upcoming Quizzes/Tests: . Ordering Adjectives on Friday for On, AdV and Using Verb Tenses for ACC
These quizzes will be assigned on Microsoft Teams under the Assignments Tab and will also be posted on the Friday To-Do's! (If your child is using an ipad, this tab can be found after clicking the 'More' tab at the top of the general channel in their ELA Team) Students can take the quiz up to 3 times for a better score.
Note: All homework is optional for my class. (unless it is unfinished work that needs to be completed..) However, I do not assign homework unless I feel that it will help my students do better on upcoming quizzes, tests, or improve their reading, writing, grammar skills! I do give away a special prize randomly on days I assign practice worksheets/homework other than reading and studying. Will you be the lucky student that is rewarded for doing their homework? We shall see!
